Questions about HEAL-WA

Why should I use Heal-WA? The library for Providence SW WA has many of the same resources as HEAL-WA available but our remote access is cumbersome at best. MDs have access to a VPN portal where library resources are available but most nurses or other medical professionals do not. HEAL-WA's resources can be accessed remotely.

Why is there a library at Providence SW Washington when we have access to HEAL-WA? Although HEAL-WA has a great selection of databases and resources available to search, there is no actual librarian available when you need additional help with a search or you need the full text of an article not available in the HEAL-WA databases.

Setting up an Account

If you need to set up a UW NetID and password for HEAL-WA access, choose one of the following options:

  • Create a UW NetID - I do not have a UW NetID, am a member of one of the licensed professions listed below, and need to create a UW NetID so I can access HEAL-WA.
  • Add HEAL-WA affiliation - I currently have an active UW NetID, am a member of one of the licensed professions listed above, and need to add HEAL-WA access to my UW NetID.

NOTE: HEAL-WA resources are separate from other UW resources, and HEAL-WA needs to be added separately to your UW NetID in order to use HEAL-WA resources.

DynaMed on HEAL-WA

Check out DynaMed, available through HEAL-WA : A clinical reference tool created for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care.'  DynaMed is a competitor to UptoDate and considered by many to be the superior product.
